5 Car Myths People Actually Believe, But Aren’t True

Our friends, neighbors, car dealers and family are always trying to give us advice on how to improve the AC, save gas and many other things. Should we follow what they say? Instead of listening to the word on the street, we should ask the experts. Here are some common myths that you shouldn’t fall prey to.

Myth 1: The more you fill the fuel tank, the better
This is a common myth, especially when people are discussing pumping gas. However, the truth is that every tank is designed with a maximum capacity of liquids; either petrol or brake oil. Once you surpass the limit, you will lose money.

Myth 2: All washing liquids are equal, why should I buy the one designed for cars?
Although all detergents may look similar on the outside, their composition varies considerably. If you wash your vehicle with dishwashing liquid, it might be very harmful to your car. Car washing liquid is made in a way that it preserves the paint and shine of your car.

Myth 3: Automatics suck
Although driving an automatic car is more exciting and engaging than driving an automatic car, the latter still has superior performance. Automatic cars are easy to use and are quicker than the manual transmission systems.

Myth 4: Police cars are faster than other vehicles
We all see police cars being driven at incredibly high speeds, especially in movies and on computer games. This doesn’t mean that they are faster. Although some are designed with a lot of power because they are for chasing the bad guys, it does not apply to all cars.

Myth 5: The more the air in the tires, the better
The air in the tires is not a factor that determines the speed. It will also not save your gas. Every car has a caliber of gas that should be put in the tires. Therefore, check your car manual to know the optimum tire pressure.
